[Unit Project 1] My Special Car

  My artifact is a car. This body color is white and there are pasted the beginner mark on my car's body. It is larger than me but its doors are lower than me so I must bend down when riding in the car. Front lights of my car are round shape. My car is able to seat 4 people including the driver. Also, my car is able to stream music using Bluetooth. However, my car cannot watch TV while driving. My car is compact car that is small and light so it is easy to drive.

 There are a lot of workers in the world. How do they go to work? Especially, how does young worker who are still students go to work? Many people would use train or bicycle. Some people may use a car.

 In January 2023, I started working at one part-time job. It always starts working at 7am. I went there by car driven by my mother because it takes an hour to walk from my home to part-time job and I did not have a driver's license. I had to wake up my mom early in the morning. That was something I did not really want to do. Because my mom is busy. When she woke up early to send me to my part-time job, she looked sleepy. 

 In August 2023, my life has changed a lot. I decided to get another part-time job in addition to my current part-time job to save money for studying abroad. However, there was one big problem that would have increased the burden on my mother. If I start another job, the number of my mother's driving will increase. So, I consulted my father. 

    "Dad, I have what I want to discuss." I said. Then, I told my father that I wanted to get another part-time job and the problem that would come with it. 

    "Well, that's a difficult problem." my father said, "I think Mariko need a car. She got her driver's license a month ago so she can drive herself. That will solve the problem. So, I decided to buy a car for Mariko."

 When I heard those words, I was very surprised. Because The car is expensive so it isn't easy to buy the car. But on the other hand, I also felt happy. If I get the car, I can go anywhere by myself and reduce my mother's burden. 

    "I'm so glad!!" I said, "Thank you so much dad."

 Now, I drive to part-time job by my special car. I like driving now more than before and my mother looks like happy because she could have more time of sleeping than before. 

  I am going to discuss about compact cars and traffic accident. First, Compact cars are unique to Japan. It is easy for people to drive due to its light weight and small body. The compact car engine is smaller than standard-sized car, so it consumes less gasoline and is more fuel efficient. Also, the compact car is not as expensive as a regular car. Therefore, people who have just gotten their driver's license tend to choose a compact car as their first car. Second, the age group that causes traffic accidents more is young people (Metropolitan Police Department, 2022). There are a lot of people who have beginner mark. Also, the most common cause of traffic accidents is lack of safety assurance (Metropolitan Police Department, 2015). From these things, I think drivers with beginner mark who are not yet accustomed to driving are causing traffic accidents by lacking of safety assurance. 

 Recently, there are many car accidents that caused by young people. Also, many of young people drive compact car. However, there are many disadvantages; for example, take a lot of damage. If people have an accident with a compact car, they are more likely to get injured because the compact car is easier to break than standard-sized car. Compact cars are easy to buy and drive, however, they have the drawback of being easily damaged. Therefore, I think that people who have beginner mark should drive carefully even if the beginner mark is gone.
